intimate experiential

SARAH GROGAN | kythnos | 1-6 SEP 2022

THE EXPERIENCE

This yoga journey draws upon the intimacy of Kythnos’ raw nature and the healing power of the sea. You’re invited to immerse into a different pace of life and experience yoga inspired by the elements. Sarah’s multi-faceted classes explore the body and its potential across different styles of movement - Rocket, Ashtanga, Mandala, Vinyasa, FRC and Conscious Connected Breathwork - offer an experiential view to yoga for curious minds. She believes that to tap into our full potential and find contentment we need to be connected - mind with body and self. You will feel this across the entire retreat.

There will be plenty of time to relax by the infinity pool, swim in our private bay, taste our chef’s delicious dishes and wander at the whitewashed alleys of the villages.

HIGHLIGHTS: 1. Hiking to the Byzantine Castle of Oria: Embark on a 45min hike to reach one of the highest points of the island with the most magnificent view. 2. Boat ride to the famous double beach of Kolona: A day spent at the sea with plenty of suntanning time, optional kayaking and watermelon on board!

our island home BY THE SEA

Our Kythnos villa lies just an inch above the sea level, gazing all the little islands that are dispersed across the Aegean. From the moment you set foot on the house, its proximity to the water along with its bright colors and natural materials, makes you instantly feel in harmony with yourself and the surrounded nature. The highlights of the house are its seawater infinity pool which feels like swimming in the open sea and a staircase that leads to heaven - a private bay shaped of flat rocks where you can jump straight to the water or just enjoy a private sunbathe session. yoga with sarah grogan

Sarah Grogan: Sarah is an international yoga teacher (E-500RYT), with close to 1000 hours of teacher trainings, along with FCR (mobility), and Breathwork. She is a lululemon Ambassador, and the Head of Yoga for Digme, managing their 5 yoga studios in London. She has been teaching for 5 years but has been studying yoga and meditation for much longer. Sarah is trained in Rocket, Ashtanga, Mandala, Vinyasa, FRC, Conscious Connected Breathwork, and is studying a Stanford Certificate in Nutrition. She believes that the our overall wellness needs to be thought of holistically.

  • Morning Yoga: Expect a strong and powerful vinyasa designed to be accessible for all levels, along with some pranayama, kriyas and meditation. Sarah will challenge you and push you beyond your comfort zone. She believes that challenging the body physically helps us cope when with challenges we face in life mentally and emotionally.

  • Afternoon Practice: Sarah will be guided by the desires and the energy of the group. We can use this time to do inversions, breathwork, slow and gentle flow or even some AcroYoga. Sarah’s diverse trainings and modalities of movement mean that we can try something new every day.

  • Masterclass: Hearts over Heads: Take a journey into inversions. This 2 hour workshop will leave you feeling far more confident with your inversions practice. Inversions can be used to energise us or to calm us, Sarah will show you how to get the most out of your inversion practice, and how to overcome any psychological barriers holding you back. She believes that one of the biggest lessons from an inversions practice is finding that inner calm, even when it seems like there is chaos around you. This is something we can practically apply to our daily lives.

  • Yin / Restorative: Yin yoga is characterised by longer held postures that targets the connective tissue to improve flexibility and joint stability. Sarah likes to join this with a short Breathwork session, to really reset the body, mind and nervous system.

Teacher’s note: Expect to come together, to make friends, and have a wonderful immersive and intimate experience. Do note that Sarah recognises that this is your time and your holiday. Coming from the corporate world she has the utmost respect for this, so she will encourage you to take the retreat as it suits you. There will never be any pressure to do anything, she will be mindful of you enjoying your down time as well as your time with the group.

Sarah is all about creating community. Her retreats tend to attract people who care about the same

gOURMET MEETS LOCAL

We love giving a healthy twist to traditional Greek recipes combining what’s in season with what’s on offer to each island we visit. Our Kythnos menus are designed by our team nutritionist, Sabrina Chorafa, and executed by our private chef. Sabrina is creative and enjoys mixing healthy trends with our traditional Greek recipes. She promises that you will enjoy a well-balanced and nourishing menu, mainly sourced by fresh and local ingredients.

The menu included a rich selection of juicy salads, Greek herbal blends, tasty smoothies, healthy snacks, tonnes of fruits, and delicious homemade meals. Sabrina loves sharing her art with the world and her wellness workshops are always a hit. We promise that you will leave the retreat feeling lighter, brighter and with a slightly different approach to food.

* Note: We might need to adjust our way of enjoying our meal during the retreat in order to follow social distancing guidelines, to the extent that’s possible. We’ll shortly announce the new procedures that will need to be put into place.
